EXTRA-CURRICULAR ATHLETIC PROGRAM

The Saint Henry athletic program is formed by the basic principles that sports develop healthy minds and bodies. We feel that athletics teach students, coaches and parents invaluable lessons outside the classroom such as: teamwork, sportsmanship, performing under pressure, and grace in victory as well as defeat.

Fall Sports

Football, Cheerleading, Volleyball and Cross Country

Football is available to boys only. The 5th and 6th grade team will focus on sound technique, learning the rules of the game and having fun. The team will generally practice during the week and play a game on Saturday.

The 7th and 8th grade team is directed towards discipline, teamwork and a competitive spirit. Their season will include team standings and trophies.

Cheerleading is available to 8th grade girls during the football season only. Teamwork and sportsmanship are the primary goals. This is an opportunity for all girls to cheer and have fun. One scheduled competition is at the end of the year.

5th and 6th grade Volleyball is available to girls only. This team stresses individual skills and learning the game. The teams do not keep standings or score. The primary goal is to learn and have fun.

Cross-Country is open to all K-8 students. Practice is held twice a week after school and (4) Four Meets are run on Sundays at Overbrook School throughout the month of October. The Jr. High students will compete for medals and team trophies.
